Chemistry Honors – Fall Final Exam

Test Format Details
- The exam has 12 questions, covering topics from the whole semester
- The exam question format is short-answer and there are no multiple choice questions
- The exam is designed to take about one hour, although you will have a maximum of 90 minutes to complete the exam
- No calculators of any sort will be needed nor allowed during the exam
- You will be provided a periodic table, solubility rules, and a list of the common ions for the test
- No outside note sheets or extra materials will be necessary
Test Objectives – The student should be able to:
- Write chemical formulas given compound names
- Write chemical names given formulas
- Identify the protons, neutrons, electrons, atomic number, mass number, and charge on an atom or ion.
- Balance a chemical reaction using whole numbers
- Identify the type(s) of chemical reaction given the chemical reaction
- Identify the oxidation state of an element in a compound
- Determine the element being oxidized or reduced in a reaction
- Write the net ionic reaction between two aqueous substances
- Identify a process as a chemical or physical change
- Write the electron configuration of an atom or ion
- Write the four quantum numbers for the electrons in an atom
- Draw the Lewis dot structure of a substance
- Identify the geometry of electrons around an atom in a molecule
- Identify the shape of a molecule
- Identify the type of intermolecular forces that exists between particles of the same substance
