Claim

• an idea that the scientist propsed that was new
• the idea is something not previously accepted or known
• in other words, this is the “new ground” being staked

Evidence

• experiemental evidence that led to the claim being made
• this is informaiton based upon a specific experiment
• this is not the conclusion dran from the experiment

Reasoning

• this is the connection between the CLAIM and the REASONING
• this is is the “why” of how the evidence led to the claim

Biographical

• any biographical information not related to the CER
• anything about the scientist that is related to the work but not the work

Prior

• information known to the scientist befvore starting the work
• this is the starting place (foundation) of the research
• what did the scientist know before starting?

Other

• any information not able to be categorized in other categories
• information might be in another category but you are not sure
