PART I – GROUP QUIZ
Overall Structure
- students work in pairs! (one grade for both students)
- students given formulas of four substances
- students also given information about a physical property for each
- students need to match the substance identity to the information
- students will use information about IMF and polarity to identify
Building Questions to Answer Quiz (also provided on quiz sheet)
- Draw the Lewis Dot Structure
- Draw a 3D version of the molecule
- Identify the shape geometry around each central atom, including bond angles
- Build the molecule (check with the Quinton at this point)
- Identify (draw) the bond polarities and overall polarity in each molecule
- Identify the type(s) of IMF present in a pure sample of each
PART II – REVIEW FOR FINAL EXAM
